In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, Friends of Yates will hold its 3rd annual Night of Praise, “Friends Embracing Lives through Praise.” The benefit event will be held at Forest Grove Baptist Church, 1417 N. 9th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The annual event benefits the Della Gill-Joyce H. Williams Center for victims of domestic violence, a program of Friends of Yates. Judson Baptist Church, 8300 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold Sunday morning services at 11 a.m. on the first Sunday of the month, and at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the other Sundays, and Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. The church website is http://judsonbaptistchurchkck.com/.

The Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, offers spiritual direction by appointment. Spiritual direction is available one hour, once a month, scheduled at the convenience of the director and the person requesting direction. For more information, call 913-906-8990. Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kan., will observe the eighteenth Sunday in Pentecost at the 10 a.m. service Oct. 8. A blessing of the animals, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, is also planned. An adult study session will be held at 9 a.m.
