KCK police investigate fatal shooting on North 29th

Kansas City, Kansas, police officers are investigating a fatal shooting on Friday, May 15, in the 2100 block of North 29th.

A spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department stated that officers responded to a call about 12:49 p.m. Friday and confirmed that a man about 20 years old was deceased inside the residence.

A preliminary investigation indicated the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation, the spokesman stated. The situation has been contained and does not pose a threat to the public, according to the spokesman.

The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, the spokesman stated.

Several Wyandotte County students graduate from Avila

Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri, has announced that several Wyandotte County students have graduated.

The class of 2020 will be honored at a special reception during this fall’s homecoming week. Spring 2020 graduates are also invited to walk the commencement stage with their classmates in May 2021.

Victim of fatal accident identified

The victim of a fatal accident on May 9 in the 100 block of South 78th Street has been identified, according to Kansas City, Kansas, police.

The victim was Kristal Jenkins, 46, according to a police spokesman.

A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling south on South 78th Street, left the roadway and landed in a heavily wooded area. The female driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. She was found deceased from injuries sustained from the accident, police said.

The case remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit – Critical Collision Response Team.
