Eagle Days planned today at Kaw Point Park
Eagle Days are planned from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Kaw Point Park in Kansas City, Kan. This is a viewing opportunity outdoors at Kaw Point Park, at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers in Kansas City, Kan. Eagles may be seen from late December until early February. They sometimes perch in trees along the water’s edge. Those who arrives early in the morning may see them flying and fishing. Those who go eagle-watching are advised to bring binoculars and dress warmly. Kaw Point Park, at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers in the Fairfax area of Kansas City, Kan., can be reached from I-70, to the James Street or Fairfax exit No. 423, and then to Fairfax Boulevard. How do wild animals survive the cold?
A program from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Environmental Library, Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road, will discuss how wild animals in this are surviving the cold weather, and how creatures in colder climates survive. There will be a hands-on activity. The program is geared for children.
Make a Mardi Gras crown
Adults and senior adults may attend a program on how to make a Mardi Gras crown from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 30 at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library craft room, 625 Minnesota Ave, Kansas City, Kan. It is a glittery paper crown. Teens may attend if accompanied by an adult. The program is free but those attending must register to 913-279-2066.
Learn sewing and quilting at the library
Sewing and quilting for beginners or for those who want to learn more will be offered from 10 am. to noon Saturday, Jan. 30, at the West Wyandotte Library, Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, children’s craft room, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan.
