The “Squash COVID-19” vaccine event is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the Carl B. Bruce Middle School, 2100 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
The event is sponsored by the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools, the Wyandotte County Health Department and the Patrick Mahomes Foundation (15 and the Mahomies).
Those who get a first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will receive a free turkey and a meal voucher for food trucks on-site. Those who are getting the first shot also will get a choice between a $50 gift card or an NFL hoodie.
Those who get a COVID-19 test will receive traditional Thanksgiving side dish items, and those who get a vaccine shot and a test will receive a full Thanksgiving dinner.
Community partners will be on site, along with music and information to help families as they enter into the holiday season.
The event will have shots only for the first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Boosters will not be offered. Also, vaccines will not be available for those 5 to 11 years old.
Side items are available for those 12 and up. There is a limit of two meal boxes per family.
Masks are required.
Several local organizations are participating in this event. The school district currently is on fall break.
