Some schools closed on Friday

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools will not have school for students on Friday, Feb. 18, according to the district’s social media page. Family Advocacy Day is scheduled Friday, and these meetings now will be virtual because of the weather. KCKPS KidZone will be closed Friday.

All Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library locations will be closed Friday, Feb. 18, according to an announcement from the library.

Bishop Ward High School will hold online classes only on Friday, Feb. 18, because of the weather, according to a social media announcement. There will be no in-person classes.

Kansas City Kansas Community College will have a delayed start of 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, according to a social media announcement.

The Kansas Department of Transportation stated that road conditions are dangerous and overnight very low temperatures are expected. Residents should stay home when possible or delay driving Friday morning to give snow plows time and physical space to clear roads, ramps and bridges, KDOT stated. Drivers should wear seat belts, lower their speed and put their phones down.
