Schlagle High School pulled away from Wyandotte in the second half to gain a 41 – 13 victory on Friday night at Schlagle Stadium.
Schlagle’s nationally ranked running back Ivan Webb started out slowly, putting one touchdown on the board midway through the second quarter, but otherwise being held in check by the Wyandotte defense. Shamar Bush pulled in a pass from Brayden Soza to put the Stallions ahead, 13 – 0.
Wyandotte fought back, scoring twice in the last 5 minutes of the second quarter to pull the game even at 13 – 13 at halftime.
Webb took advantage of strong offensive line play and his own powerful running to take over the game in the third quarter, scoring three touchdowns, including a 60-yarder. Brayden Soza scored on a quarterback keeper in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.
Schlagle moves to 3 – 0 in Kansas City – Atchison League standings (5 – 0 overall) and plays at Sumner next Friday. Wyandotte drops to 1 – 2 in the league (1 – 3 overall), and plays at Washington.
