Michael Edward Mastel, 53, has been bound over for trial on five counts against a minor, including one charge of rape.
Mastel was employed as a Wyandotte County Sheriff’s adult detention deputy when the charges were announced on April 16.
After a preliminary hearing Friday, Mastel was bound over for trial on one count of rape, one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to a spokesman for the Wyandotte County District Attorney.
The five offenses are off-grid, person felonies. Last April, authorities said the alleged offenses did not occur at work.
