The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools is investigating claims of harassment at schools, according to a news release Thursday from the district.
Allegations surfaced on social media in the past few days of inappropriate behavior by staff members, according to the news release.
A spokesman for the district stated that the district would follow up on each reported allegation. Any allegations of harassment or discrimination will be taken very seriously and will be fully investigated, the district spokesman stated.
The district will follow its policies and procedures during a thorough investigation into the claims, according to the spokesman. Discrimination and harassment are prohibited by the district.
The spokesman encouraged students and parents to report any incidents or complaints through the district’s website portal at https://report.kckps.org. The portal can be found on the district’s website.
The spokesman stated the process is important because it provides the district with the information needed to conduct a complete investigation. Complaints will remain confidential and retaliation is strictly prohibited, according to the spokesman. Reports also may be made by calling the hotline number at 913-627-2550.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students and encourage anyone to report discrimination, bullying and harassment in our schools,” the spokesman stated.
