KCK police investigate homicide

Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating a homicide today on the south side of the city not far from the Missouri state line.

Police officers were called to the scene at 1:38 p.m. June 30 to check on a person inside a blue vehicle in the area of Francis Street and Bristow Avenue.

Officers found a woman in her 20s, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, a police spokesman said.

The identity of the victim is being held until there is positive identification and family notification, police said.

Francis Street and Bristow Avenue intersect near Eaton Street in southeastern Kansas City, Kan., close to the state line. Rainbow Boulevard (U.S. 169) is to the west of it and Southwest Boulevard is to the northwest of it.

The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, which is asking anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
