A benefit pancake breakfast in honor of a heroic crossing guard is planned from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, March 15, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Davern Hall, 53rd and Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The funds raised at the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast will go to a scholarship fund at Christ the King School in memory of Bob Nill, a crossing guard who was killed while on duty in a traffic accident Feb. 18. He is credited with saving the lives of two schoolchildren. Church Women United will meet on Friday, March 6, at St. Andrew Baptist Church, 5300 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. A social time at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by the meeting at 10 a.m.

The Keeler Women’s Center, 759 Vermont Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold “Scripture Study and Reflection,” facilitated by Heather Neds, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays. There will be a Lenten retreat, “Making a Difference from Where You Are,” scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 4. Mary Kat Witacre will lead the retreat. A light supper will be provided. Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 1. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. March 1.

St. Mary-St. Anthony Catholic Church, 615 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a Lenten reflection at 8 a.m. Friday, March 6. It is sponsored by the Strawberry Hill Altar Societies. After Mass, there will be a continental breakfast. The session begins at 9 a.m. Reservations may be made to 913-897-4833. A freewill offering will be accepted. The day of reflection is open to men and women.

Stony Point Christian Church, 149 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, March 1. Sunday school will be at 9 a.m. March 1.

St. Patrick Catholic Church, 94th and State Avenue, will have fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. on Fridays in the church’s parish center, 9400 State Ave. Adult meals are $10 and kids meals are $6.

Members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1300 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will observe the second Sunday in the Lenten season at 10 a.m. March 8; the second in the Lenten study series entitled “Walk in Love” will follow at 11:30 a.m. Members of the parish will meet at the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, to prepare for the annual children’s Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4.

Wyandotte United Methodist Church, 7901 Oakland Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 1. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. March 1, with the youth group meeting at 1:30 p.m. A taco salad supper sponsored by the United Methodist Women is planned from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14. Proceeds will benefit the missions.
