Warmer weather forecast for Friday; colder Saturday

An arctic high pressure ridge will mean temperatures falling into the teens and single digits, according to the weather service. Saturday night, the low will be around 9, with wind chill of minus 5 to 5. The east wind will be 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

The high pressure will push eastward to the Great Lakes area by early Sunday morning, and as it does, an upper-level trough will dig from the Canadian Plains into the Midwest, the weather service said. This provides the lift for snow development beginning early Sunday morning and continuing through the day Sunday, according to the weather service.

There is a 40 percent chance of snow, and if it arrives, the snow could start around midnight and last through 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to the weather service.

Monday through Thursday appears to be dry, with temperatures on Presidents Day, Monday, at a high of 34, the weather service said. Tuesday’s forecast is a high near 26, then Wednesday, near 32, and Thursday, near 36, according to the weather service.

Forecast: Cold today, warmer Friday

It will be cold today, with a high near 25 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Look for a 20-degree jump in temperatures on Friday, to a high of 47, the weather service said, as a warm front moves in tonight.

Tonight’s low will be about 22, the weather service said. The wind will change from north northeast during the daytime today to south southeast tonight.

Sunday, the high temperature will drop to 25 degrees, the weather service said, and there will be a 30 percent chance of snow Sunday night. At this time, the weather service stated it is not sure about the track of the snow, but there is a potential for a significant snowfall.

A 50 percent chance of snow is predicted for Monday, Presidents Day, according to the weather service. The high will be about 31. Monday night, a 40 percent chance of snow continues.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather will continue cold, with a possible high of 25 degrees, and dry.

Cool and windy day ahead for Wednesday

Today’s forecast is mostly cloudy and breezy, with falling temperatures as a cold front continues to move into the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature was 36 degrees at 8 a.m., with a wind chill of 27.

The temperature already fell from 42 degrees at 6 a.m., and at 9 a.m., it is predicted to be 31 degrees. Temperatures will climb to 34 at noon before falling again at 3 p.m. to 33 degrees, at 6 p.m. to 28 degrees, and at midnight it will be 25 degrees.

A north northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph will gust as high as 28 mph on Wednesday, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear. The weather service said Thursday morning the low will be around 14 degrees at 9 a.m.

Thursday, the high will be near 25 with a wind chill between minus 1 and 9, according to the weather service. Winds will be 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 21 mph, the weather service said. Thursday night’s forecast is a low around 20.

Friday, temperatures will warm up to a high of 46, according to the weather service. A south wind of 9 to 11 mph will change to the northwest in the afternoon.

Friday night, expect a low of 26, the weather service said.

On Valentine’s Day, Saturday’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high near 31, according to the weather service, and Saturday night’s low will be around 8.

Sunday, expect partly sunny skies with a high near 26, the weather service said. Sunday night’s low will be around 20.

For President’s Day, Monday, there is now a 40 percent chance of rain and snow in the forecast, according to the weather service. The high will be 35 degrees.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow Monday night, with a low around 21, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, the high will be near 30, according to the weather service.
