Career fairs set for Feb. 11

Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools is looking for talented people who can make a positive impact on the district’s 20,000+ students.

The district will hold its first of several career fairs on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the KCKPS Central Office.

The district is looking to hire certified staff members, which includes principals, teachers, nurses, librarians, counselors, social workers, occupational therapists, school psychologists, SPED teachers, substitute teachers and more.

Classified positions are also available, including custodians, nutritional service workers, paraprofessionals, and administrative support.

The human resources team will be able to assist with the online application process and will interview applicants on-site. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome.

This career fair will allow applicants to learn more about available positions, interview for positions, and gain information on DEI, KCKPS Benefits and Kansas Licensure.

“This is a great opportunity to learn more about available positions and make a positive first impression with hiring managers,” said Assistant Director of Recruitment and Substitute Staffing Cynthia Faulks.

Central Office is located at 2010 N. 59th St. in Kansas City, Kansas.

Interested job seekers who cannot make it to the Feb. 11th career fair, can attend the next one, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 4. It will also be held at Central Office.

KCKPS is the largest school district in Wyandotte County and the fifth-largest school district in Kansas. The district serves over 20,000 students at more than 50 school sites.

Career Fair planned Wednesday at Brune School

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools are holding a hiring event Wednesday for education, non-teaching jobs and for those who want to improve their career path.

The event will be from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Lowell Brune Elementary School, 2220 N. 89th Terrace, Kansas City, Kansas.

The district is hiring certified teachers, substitute teachers, food service employees, paraprofessionals, instructional teacher aides, bus drivers and others.

The work schedule for these positions will begin January 2023, or for the 2023- 2024 school year which begins in August 2023.

Attendees will be able to speak directly with department administrators and ask questions. The human resource team will be on-hand to assist with the online application process and will interview applicants on-site.

“Trends show that people review their career goals and evaluate new career opportunities during the months of December and January, and we hope to partner with those individuals seeking to advance their careers,” Cynthia Fulks, assistant director of recruitment and substitute staffing, said.

KCKPS is the largest school district in Wyandotte County and the fifth-largest school district in Kansas. The district serves over 21,000 students at more than 50 school sites.

Statewide virtual job fair set for Wednesday

Gov. Laura Kelly has invited job-seekers and employers to participate in the upcoming Statewide Virtual Job Fair, hosted by KansasWorks, from 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

“Every day businesses are moving to and growing in Kansas, but to succeed long-term, they need talented employees,” Gov. Laura Kelly said. “I encourage Kansans to take advantage of the resources KansasWorks offers for job-seekers and sign up to attend this virtual job fair.”

Registration is required in order to participate in the event, regardless of previous participation. The Virtual Statewide Job Fair portal features a Job Seeker Training video, a list of participating employers, and channels for attendees to register and log in.

“We have KansasWorks workforce centers in 27 cities across Kansas,” Lt. Gov. and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “These centers are ready and available to assist job-seekers with the necessary tools to finding employment with companies that are ready to hire.”

Workforce development teams are dedicated to providing assistance with the job search process, creating effective resumes, job training, job placement and more, according to a spokesman. Job-seekers are encouraged to dress professionally, as employers might request to engage in a video interview on the spot.
