Candidate meet-and-greet scheduled today

A candidate meet-and-greet is planned from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the First Baptist Church, 500 Nebraska Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

The event is sponsored by Servicing LIPPS (Legislative Interactions Producing Positive Solutions).

Mark Holland, a former mayor and a candidate for U.S. Senate, is scheduled to participate in this event.

KCK school board to meet tonight

The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Education will meet at5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Central Office and Training Center, third floor board room, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Several items are on the agenda, including reports on the Scholastic Grab-and-Go Books, Aspirational Insight, purchase of materials for roofing repairs and replacement, chiller replacement at Schlagle and Eisenhower schools, and postings for capital improvement projects.

Other agenda items include the Back Snack program, new audiovisual system at Schlagle, ExamSpark contract and SWYE 360 contract.

In addition, there is a report scheduled on effective employees strategic plan; and changes to policies, including a second read on a Naran policy.

The board also is scheduled to discuss the establishment of a facilities planning committee.

Closed executive sessions are planned on personnel and on confidential student information.
