Victim identification in death investigation of Kaw Point Park

A victim identification has been made on a dead body in the Kansas River near Kaw Point Park Nov. 9 in Kansas City, Kansas, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

An adult white male in his late 20s to early 30s was recovered from the river, the spokesman said.

The deceased man was identified as Darwin Reyes, 25, of Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit, according to the Sheriff’s spokesman.

Homicide investigation underway at Kansas and Berger avenues

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department are investigating a shooting that has left one person dead, according to a police spokesman.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Kansas Avenue and Berger Avenue at 12:16 a.m. Sunday on a shooting, the spokesman stated.

When officers arrived, they discovered an individual suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound inside of a vehicle, according to the spokesman.

He was transported to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries, the spokesman stated.

This incident is under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit. Anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477), according to the spokesman.

All tips remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Legends tree lighting Saturday

The Legendary Tree Lighting will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at The Legends Outlets Shopping Center.
