Lightbourne selected as conference men’s basketball player of week

Baldwin, Kansas – Kansas City Kansas Community College men’s basketball player Bradley Lightbourne has been named the KJCCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced this week.

Lightbourne was selected as the Player of the Week by a committee of sports information directors around the conference.

Lightbourne averaged 15.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two wins this last week. In a rout of MidAmerica Nazarene junior varsity, he nearly averaged a double-double recording 16 points and nine rebounds.

Then in a win over North Arkansas he ignited a spark to help the Blue Devils overcome a 14-point deficit late in the second half to defeat the Pioneers by two points at home.

Lightbourne leads the Blue Devils with 13.5 points per game and a 56.5 field goal percentage.

KCKCC candlelighting raises funds for scholarships

KCKCC volleyball player named an All-American

The 2021 NJCAA Volleyball All-Americans were released this week and Kansas City Kansas volleyball player Cassidy Crist was named a Second Team Division II All-American by the national office.

This is Crist’s second straight Division II Volleyball All-American award, after being named an Honorable Mention in 2020.

This award comes after Crist was named an All-Jayhawk First Teamer.

Crist had an outstanding season for the Blue Devils as she recorded 464 kills and a 4.38 kills per set average, while also totaling 246 digs and 61 total blocks. Her 4.38 kills per set ranked ninth in the nation, while her 464 kills were 12th at the JUCO level.

Crist helped the Blue Devils to a 22-11 record this season as they advanced all the way to the District Plains A championship game, where they eventually fell to Cowley Community College.
