Day of service planned for governor’s inauguration
A day of service is planned for Gov. Laura Kelly’s inauguration.
The day of service will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 7 at Cross-Lines Community Market, 736 Shawnee Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
In Wyandotte County, Cross-Lines has organized a food and hygiene-household product drive.
Volunteers will participate by donating food, hygiene and household items to Cross-Lines Community Market. Cross-Lines provides direct assistance to at-risk families, the elderly and single individuals struggling to make ends meet.
The mission of Cross-Lines is to provide people in the Kansas City area affected by poverty with services and opportunities that encourage self-confidence, meet today’s needs and provide tools for future self-sufficiency.

KCK student initiated into Phi Kappa Phi
Marisa No of Kansas City, Kansas, has been initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Washburn University.
Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
She is among about 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.
Graduate students in the top 10 percent also may qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
