Look for warmer temperatures with breezy south winds on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Today’s high will be near 60 with winds gusting as high as 33, the weather service said.

A cold front will move through Thursday evening, but temperatures should remain above normal through the weekend, according to the weather service.

Rain chances will be limited through the weekend with better chances for precipitation on Monday, the weather service said.

Today, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 60 and a south southwest wind of 14 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 33 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 30, according to the weather service. A west wind of 8 to 13 mph will become light after midnight, with winds gusting as high as 24 mph.

Friday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 44 and a light and variable wind, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 30, according to the weather service. A calm wind will become southeast around 5 mph.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 50 and a light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the morning, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 33, according to the weather service.

On Sunday, New Year’s Day, it will be partly sunny with a high near 54, the weather service said.

Two Wyandotte County students initiated into Phi Kappa Phi at KU

Two Wyandotte County students have been initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Kansas.


The students are Christa Bella Bizimana of Kansas City, Kansas, and Brook Rentz of Bonner Springs.


They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Windy conditions are expected this afternoon with gusts out of the south up to 40 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Today’s high will be 49, while the low tonight will be 43, the weather service said. Temperatures may reach 54 on Thursday.
