Free outdoor chamber music concert planned Saturday in Armourdale

A free outdoor chamber music concert is planned from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Shawnee Park (West), at South 7th Street and Shawnee Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.

Sponsored by the Armourdale Renewal Association and the Kansas City Symphony, the concert will feature a smaller group of symphony musicians, according to a spokesman.

The event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. There are plans to reschedule if the weather does not cooperate.

Those attending will be wearing masks and socially distancing. People may bring their own lawn chairs and space the chairs apart from others.

Veterans Day event at World War I Museum

Veterans Day events are being held today at the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri.

Admission is free to veterans and active-duty military personnel through Sunday, Nov. 15.

General admission for the public is half-prie on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.

After a Veterans Day ceremony in the morning (online at https://www.theworldwar.org/veteransday), there is a symphony concert planned at 3 p.m. on the lawn of the museum.

This year’s events and ceremonies will be outdoors to ensure safety. Social distancing and masks are highly encouraged. Additionally, ample social distancing space is available throughout the indoor galleries and, in conjunction with Kansas City’s executive order, guests are required to wear face masks inside the museum.

Warm-Up Wyandotte on Saturday to give away turkeys, flu shots and hoodies

Warm-Up Wyandotte will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, at Mercy and Truth Clinic, 721 N. 31st St., Kansas City, Kansas. The event will be first-come, first-served, and participants will stay in their cars.

The annual Warm-Up Wyandotte event on Saturday, Oct. 31, will give away 200 flu shots, 200 turkeys and 200 new hoodies.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Mercy and Truth Medical Clinic, 721 N. 31st St., Kansas City, Kansas, according to Anne Rauth. The location is south of Minnesota Avenue.

Besides the turkeys, hoodies and flu shots, there will also be 200 food boxes for those who attend, she said. They also plan to give away laundry detergent.

The event will be first-come, first-served, and participants will stay in their vehicles for everything, she said.
