KCK schools’ public budget hearing to be tonight

A public hearing on the budget is on the agenda for tonight’s Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools board meeting.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Central Office and Training Center, third floor board room, 2010 N. 59th St.

The board will have a public hearing to exceed the revenue neutral rate for the 2022-2023 school year, and then will have a public hearing on the 2022-2023 budget.

Approval of the budget also is scheduled as an agenda item.

In other action, the board is scheduled to hear an update on Junior Achievement membership; a memorandum of understanding for Royals Charities Crown Schools and new 2023 graduation dates. In addition, a Foundation of Excellence memorandum of understanding is on the agenda, along with a report on Kansas Education Systems of Accreditation and a dual language program.

Several policies also are on the agenda for review.

KCK school board to meet Sept. 7

The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Education will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. According to a meeting notice, the special meeting will be held at the law offices of McAnany, Van Cleave and Phillips, 10 E. Cambridge Circle Drive, Suite 300, Kansas City, Kansas. According to the meeting notice, the board will consider taking action on the human resources report and recommendations; review the building needs assessment; recess to a closed executive session for consultation with its attorney on matters that are deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship; and board development.

BPU to meet Sept. 7

The Board of Public Utilities will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7. On the agenda for the regular meeting are a public comment time; a presentation by Groundwork Northeast Revitalization Group Inc.; general manager and staff reports; July financial report; a customer service quarterly update; miscellaneous comments and board comments.
