89 Wyandotte County students named to KU honor roll

Eighty-nine students from Wyandotte County earned honor roll distinction for the spring 2018 semester at the University of Kansas.

Honor roll criteria vary among the various colleges and schools at KU. Some honor the top 10 percent, while others establish a minimum grade-point average. Students must complete a minimum number of credit hours to be eligible.

The students are from KU’s Lawrence and Edwards campuses and the schools of Health Professions and Nursing in Kansas City, Kansas.

Candlelight vigil to be Sunday evening for two slain deputies
A candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in front of City Hall to honor two slain deputies, Patrick Rohrer and Theresa King. The candlelight vigil is being held by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. The candlelight vigil, in front of City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., is open to the public.

Meditation class offered
A mindfulness and meditation class will be offered from noon to 12:30 p.m. June 20 at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, in the first floor program room. KCK schools schedule meet-and-greet sessions with superintendent candidate finalists Wednesday and Thursday
The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools have scheduled meet-and-greet sessions with superintendent candidate finalists on Wednesday, June 20, and Thursday, June 21. The sessions are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. June 20 and 21 in the board room at the Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The public may meet the first finalist on Wednesday and the second on Thursday. The public will have the opportunity to meet the superintendent candidates, submit written questions to the finalists, and to leave written comments for the school board about the superintendent candidates. The school board is not scheduled to be at the meet-and-greet sessions. The school board is scheduled to interview the finalists in closed, executive sessions at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, and Thursday, June 21.
