Candlelight vigil to be Sunday evening for two slain deputies
A candlelight vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 17, in front of City Hall to honor two slain deputies, Patrick Rohrer and Theresa King. The candlelight vigil is being held by the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office. The candlelight vigil, in front of City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., is open to the public.

Fire performer scheduled June 20 through Turner library
Jason D’Vaude, a fire performer, is scheduled to appear from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the gymnasium at the community center at the Turner Community Library, 831 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kansas. He will perform juggling using pins, swords and fire. The show is for all ages. Meditation class offered
A mindfulness and meditation class will be offered from noon to 12:30 p.m. June 20 at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas, in the first floor program room. The class for adults and senior adults will offer techniques on meditation, for new or advanced meditators. The class also is scheduled June 27 and July 11. Public meetings are scheduled on a KCK zoning code rewrite on June 20. The first public meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Salvation Harbor Light Village Chapel, 6723 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The second meeting is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at Memorial Hall, second floor, 600 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The UG is seeking public comments. KCK schools schedule meet-and-greet sessions with superintendent candidate finalists Wednesday and Thursday
The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools have scheduled meet-and-greet sessions with superintendent candidate finalists on Wednesday, June 20, and Thursday, June 21. The sessions are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. June 20 and 21 in the board room at the Central Office and Training Center, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The public may meet the first finalist on Wednesday and the second on Thursday. The public will have the opportunity to meet the superintendent candidates, submit written questions to the finalists, and to leave written comments for the school board about the superintendent candidates. The school board is not scheduled to be at the meet-and-greet sessions. The school board is scheduled to interview the finalists in closed, executive sessions at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, and Thursday, June 21.

The KCK Street Blues Fest to be held Saturday, June 23
The Kansas City, Kansas, Street Blues Festival will be held Saturday, June 23, at Lavender’s Circle L Ranch, 3924 N. 49th Drive, Kansas City, Kansas, which is north of Leavenworth Road. 35th Infantry Division Band to play July 4 at T-Bones game
The Marching Band of the 35th Infantry Division Band, the official band of the Kansas National Guard, will play the National Anthem on July 4 at the Kansas City T-Bones game in Kansas City, Kansas.
