Delaware ceremony planned June 1 at Wyandotte County Park

The Kansas Delaware Tribe’s annual meeting is scheduled on Saturday, June 1, at the George Meyn building at Wyandotte County Park, 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs.

A day of activities is planned about the Delaware culture and heritage.

A smoking ceremony will be held at 9 a.m., followed by cultural activities including drumming, finding ancestral roots with the original 26 Delaware members who stayed in Kansas rather than being removed to Indian Territory, recognizing tribal elder and tribal veteran, and studying the cultural meanings of dances and events.

Three Wyandotte County students have received academic honors for the spring semester at Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas.

Students on the dean’s list have a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.95 and carry at least 12 credit hours.

Seven Wyandotte County students on honor rolls at MidAmerica Nazarene University

Seven Wyandotte County students have been named to the honor rolls for the spring 2019 semester at MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, Kansas.

Students on the Dean’s List had a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99 for the semester, while students on the Honor Roll had a GPA of 3.2 to 3.49 for the semester. The students were taking at least 12 semester hours.
