Board sets timelines for superintendent search

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Board of Education today set a timeline for its superintendent search.

At a special 4 p.m. meeting Thursday, the school board got the selection process started.

Requests for proposals from search firms will be submitted to the board by 5 p.m. Oct. 20, according to the timeline that was approved.

The board is expected to then open the proposals within the next few days after the deadline, and select firms that it wants to interview for the search.

According to board Vice President Wanda Brownlee Paige, the board used the 2018 superintendent search information to structure a similar process for 2020.

Board President Randy Lopez said during the meeting that the board hopes to have interviews with prospective search firms in late October, and probably select a search firm in early November.
