High schools planning outdoor graduations

It’s high school graduation month, and area schools are planning in-person graduations.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools have scheduled graduations at the high school football stadiums, according to a district spokesman.

Masks and social distancing will be required for the KCK Public Schools. There are rain dates in case of rain at the scheduled time.


Graduation is by invitation in the KCK district, with each graduate allowed to invite four guests, who will need tickets to be admitted. There are plans to livestream the graduations for those who cannot attend, with information at https://kckps.org/graduation-dates.

Graduation dates include:

  • Washington High School, 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20; alternative rain date of 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3.
  • Bridges-Wyandot Academy, 7 p.m., Friday, May 21, at Wyandotte auditorium; alternative rain date of 7 p.m. Friday, June 4.
  • Wyandotte High School, 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, alternative rain date of 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5.
  • Fairfax, 7 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Wyandotte auditorium; alternative rain date of 7 p.m. Monday, June 7.
  • Schlagle, 7 p.m. Monday, May 24; alternative rain date of Monday, June 7.
  • Sumner Academy, 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 at Schlagle stadium; alternative rain date at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 9.
  • 500 Reach, 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at Schlagle stadium; alternative rain date of 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10.
  • Harmon High School, 7 p.m. Friday, May 28; alternative rain date of 7 p.m. Friday, June 11.

  • Turner High School, 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Turner District Activity Center outdoors.
  • Bonner Springs High School graduated on Tuesday, May 18, at Children’s Mercy Park.
  • Bishop Ward High School graduated on Thursday, May 13, at Memorial Hall.
