Administrator changes announced for KCK schools

Administrator changes have been announced for the 2020-2021 school year at the Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools.

Reassignments will allow the school district to maintain a reasonable staff balance and ensure the distribution of experience and competencies to meet students’ educational needs, according to a district spokesman.

The administrator changes include:

Carl B. Bruce Elementary School (Northwest)
Sean DeMaree, assistant principal


Lowell Brune Elementary School
Ann Herrmann, assistant principal


John F. Kennedy Elementary School
Janell Urban, assistant principal


Stony Point North Elementary
Rebecca Romain, assistant principal


Welborn Elementary School
Jimmika Lawson, assistant principal


Frances Willard Elementary School
Jody Moeschler, assistant principal


Argentine Middle School
Catherine Carter, assistant principal


Schlagle High School

Cody McCoy, assistant principal


Sumner Academy of Arts and Science
Rebecca Skinner, assistant principal


KCK Early Childhood Center
Heather Hamtil, assistant principal

In addition to administrative changes at school buildings, there are two other district administration changes, according to the spokesman.

Matthew Anderson was named interim assistant superintendent starting at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. He joined the school district 13 years ago. He will replace Allen King.

Anderson has served as an elementary teacher, early childhood – fifth grade instructional coach and early childhood – fifth grade math curriculum instructional coach. He most recently has been director of curriculum and instruction, supervising curriculum and instruction professional learning opportunities for instructional coaches and teachers in the district.

Kristen Scott was named middle school instructional improvement officer.

She has been employed with the district 27 years, serving in various positions including student-teacher at Central Middle School, full-time teacher, assistant principal and principal. She served as a principal for nine years. She is currently the director of ESOL – migrant programs. She replaces Dr. Eva Tucker-Nevels.
