The first homicide of 2022 was reported at 2:41 am. Jan. 10 in the 2600 block of South 37th Street, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.
Detectives are investigating the case. Officers were dispatched to the address on a report of a shooting, the spokesman stated, and found a deceased adult male inside the home, the victim of apparent gunfire.
The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit, according to the spokesman.

A robbery and shooting on Sunday, Jan. 9, at Matney Park, 39th and Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kansas, is under investigation.
According to a spokesman for the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office, a shooting was reported about 3:09 p.m. Sunday at Matney Park.
When officers arrived, they found a victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, the spokesman stated. The victim was taken to a hospital.
According to the spokesman, a preliminary investigation showed the victim was robbed while sitting in a vehicle at Matney Park. An altercation ensued over the firearm, and the victim sustained a gunshot wound, the spokesman stated.
The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a male about 5-9 and 170 pounds, who may have a scar on his face or cheek, according to the spokesman.
