Public hearing scheduled on UG budget tonight

The Unified Government Commission will have a public hearing on exceeding the revenue neutral rate and a final budget public hearing at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.

There will be an ordinance and resolution on the agenda on exceeding the revenue neutral rate.

Because of COVID-19, the public will be able to observe or listen to the special meeting live on YouTube or UGTV on cable television, or to participate through Zoom on the internet, or listen by telephone.

The public also may view and participate in the special meeting from the lobby of City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

KCK school board to hold special meeting this afternoon

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public School board will hold a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, on YouTube.

The meeting agenda includes a human resources report and recommendations; a board discussion of staff vaccinations; and a closed, executive session to discuss personnel matters.

State education commissioner to visit KCK today

Dr. Randy Watson, Kansas commissioner of education, and Dr. Brad Neuenswander, deputy commissioner, will be in Kansas City, Kansas, today as part of Dr. Watson’s 50 community conversations about education in Kansas.

The dialogue begins at 11:30 a.m. at the KCKPS Administrative and Training Center at 2010 N 59th St. in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Kansans Can Success Tour is a follow-up to the Kansas Children. Kansas’ Future. community conversations tour that took place beginning in late winter and early spring of 2015.

The purpose of the Kansas Children. Kansas’ Future. tour was to bring together parents, educators, local school board members, higher education representatives, legislators, and members of the business community to discuss the future they wanted for Kansas children and the role they wanted Kansas education to play in supporting that envisioned future.
