Two deaths at apartments now being investigated as homicides

Two deaths reported last Thursday at the Cambridge at River Oaks Apartments, 70th and Riverview, are now a homicide investigation, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Police department detectives made the determination recently.

Heather Miller, 22, and Jordan Horton, 24, both Kansas City, Kansas, residents, were found dead Thursday morning inside an apartment at the complex, the spokesman stated.

Officers were carrying out a welfare check requested by Miller’s family, according to the spokesman.

An initial investigation showed that both had been deceased for several days prior to the discovery, the spokesman stated. There is no suspect in custody currently.

This incident is currently under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit, according to the spokesman. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
