Severe thunderstorm warning issued

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 10:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, for Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service.

At 9:54 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Shawnee, moving east at 20 mph.

This storm includes 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, the weather service said.

Hail damage to vehicles is possible, along with wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

This thunderstorm warning also is for south central Leavenworth County and northern Johnson County.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued for southwestern Wyandotte County

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Wyandotte County.

The warning is in effect until 10:06 p.m. Thursday.

Residents should go to an interior portion of the lowest floor of a building, according to the weather service.

The warning also is in effect for southwestern Leavenworth County and northwestern Johnson County.

At 9:35 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was seen over DeSoto, moving east at 20 mph.

This storm includes 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Hail damage to vehicles is possible, with wind damage possible to roofs, siding and trees.

Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Kansas City, Kansas, and Maywood are in the path of this storm.
