Online lecture on Armourdale planned Tuesday

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Library, will hold a Zoom lecture by Dr. Daniel Serda from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 13, titled “Planning, Community and Renewal in Armourdale.

On the 70th anniversary of the 1951 flood, Dr. Serda will discuss the early development of “Armourdale, and how natural, economic and political forces continue to shape its evolution as a working-class community.”

Dr. Serda is a city planner specializing in urban design and community planning , and currently serves as economic development program officer for Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC). A Zoom link for the lecture is available on the events calendar at www.kckpl.org.

Grinter Jamboree to be Wednesday

The Grinter Jamboree is returning on Wednesday night to the Grinter Barn at 1400 S. 78th St.

Live music from the MP3 Band will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A snack bar will open at 5:30 p.m. Sub sandwiches will be added to the snack bar this month.

There will be dancing.

Admission will be $7, with doors opening at 5 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Grinter Place Friends.

Collision reported on K-7

Two vehicles yielding for an emergency vehicle on July 10 were in a collision on K-7 near Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Toyota Camry and a Dodge Stratus were northbound on K-7 near Leavenworth Road at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, July 10, when they yielded to the right for an emergency vehicle. When the Camry yielded to the right, it struck the Stratus, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Camry, a 44-year-old man from Lansing, Kansas, was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The driver of the Stratus, an 18-year-old woman from Lansing, Kansas, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.
