‘Live at the Legends’ concert to be tonight

A “Live at the Legends” free outdoor concert will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Legends Outlets, on the Lawn, I-435 and I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas.

The featured performer will be the Ryan Lynch duo, a Kansas City area musician, lead singer and composer of The Champagne.

Lynch will be playing rock, blues, country and soul music.

Those attending may bring blankets or folding chairs.

Meet artists, view art, enjoy refreshments on Downtown KCK Art Walk tonight

The Downtown KCK Third Friday Art Walk from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight will include several stops to view art and meet artists.

Stops on the Art Walk Friday, July 16, will include the EPIC Arts Studio, the Hilltop Team Office, the Velvet Nova, Veritas Architecture + Design, the PAL, and the Merc Co-op.

The Downtown KCK Third Friday Art Walk is a free, family friendly event in downtown KCK and the Strawberry Hill neighborhood.

The community, local artists, popups and brick-and-mortar establishments share art exhibits, performances, food and experiences.

The EPIC Clay Studio, 609 N. 6th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will have a free, family friendly event with a wind chime project, yard games, a visual art exhibit, live performance and dessert.

At the Merc Co+Op at 5th and Minnesota, artist JT Daniels will meet the community. Daniels is installing a mural on the corner of the Merc Co+Op at 5th and Minnesota. The Merc is seeking a response from the community before the design process begins, see https://www.themerc.coop/mural.

There will be free ice cream, raffle prizes and activities for all ages at the café and classroom.

Outside the Merc, there will be two food trucks, El de los Phillys & Co. and Los Machetes, and a local performer to be announced.

Rodeo opens tonight at the fair

The weather looks good for the Wyandotte County Fair Rodeo scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Wyandotte County Fair, 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, Kansas.

Temperatures will be in the low 80s at opening, then drop into the 70s for the fair tonight.

Bronco riding, calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling and bull riding are planned at tonight’s rodeo.

There are some local residents entered in the rodeo.

The event is presented by High Stakes Rodeo and it is also planned for 7 p.m. Saturday.

Fair events start at 5 p.m. and run until midnight Friday at the Wyandotte County Fairgrounds.

The livestock buyers dinner will be at 6 p.m. Friday in the Red Barn, followed by the 4-H bucket calf parade at 7 p.m. at the Show Barn and the livestock auction at 7 p.m. at the Show Barn.

It will be Kansas City Kansas Community College student and alumni night at the fair.

The carnival will run from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday. Wristbands will be $30.

Performing on the Main Stage on Friday will be Jazz Fusion from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Material Girl, a tribute band, from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Performing in the Shade Pavilion will be the Imagine Magic Show at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Stranded in the City, at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5 each adult for the fair, with children 12 and under free. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Cash only is accepted at the gate. Tickets also can be bought at wycofair.com. There is a separate charge for carnival rides.
