KCK school board to meet Tuesday evening
The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, via YouTube.
On the agenda is a recommendation to complete the budget for 2021-2022, and to approve for publication a notice of public hearing for the 2021-2022 budget and the transfer of $3.49 million from the contingency reserve fund to the supplemental general local option budget. In earlier discussion, school district officials said this transfer would not cause local taxes to increase.
Also on the agenda is approval of a negotiated agreement with the teachers and several other items. It will be the reorganizational meeting of the school board.

Police identify victims in Friday’s double homicide
The two victims of Friday’s double homicide in the 700 block of Pawnee have been identified as Christian Franco, 22, and Jesus Quintero, 23, both residents of Kansas City, Kansas, according to police.
At about 4:57 a.m. Friday, an individual arriving to work in the 700 block of Pawnee called 911 to report the discovery of two men who were unconscious and did not appear to be breathing, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The men were found near a vehicle that appeared to have crashed into a parked vehicle in an industrial area, the spokesman stated.
Officers were sent to the location, and paramedics said both men were deceased, the apparent victims of gunshot wounds, according to the spokesman.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, the spokesman stated.
