Gun brandished during assault

A suspect retrieved a gun and pointed it at the victims at a disturbance at 3:12 p.m. May 10 in the 1400 block of South 55th Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Suspects had approached the victims, and one suspect tried to fight a victim but was unable because they were separated, according to the report.

No injuries were reported, the report stated.

Armed robbery reported

A victim pulled up to a house in the 100 block of North alley Street at 11:44 p.m. May 10, and a suspect approached him, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The suspect then pointed a gun at the victim and took the victim’s property, the report stated. There were no injuries.

Shooting reported at house

Officers responded at 10:15 p.m. May 10 to reports of shots fired, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The officers located a house that was hit, according to the report. Victims were inside the house when it was shot, the report stated.

Shooting reported into vehicle

Suspects pulled up next to a vehicle and began shooting about 11:15 p.m. May 10, according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

There were no injuries, according to the report.

Rain is in the forecast today and every day of this week, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Today, light rain will move through the area, mainly along and south of I-70, the weather service said.

Less than 1 inch of rain is expected, according to the weather service.

After a lull on Tuesday, an active pattern will commence on Wednesday, with periods of heavy rain and perhaps scattered strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday evening, the weather service said.

The stormy pattern will continue through the end of the week with several chances for thunderstorms, which may bring heavy rain and more chances for severe weather, according to the weather service.

The possibility of strong to severe storms is increasing for Wednesday, the weather service said. While it is too early to isolate any particular hazards, some areas could see severe weather and heavy rain, which may lead to some flooding along local streams.

Ramp and lane closures in Wyandotte County planned this week

Numerous ramps and lanes are scheduled to be closed in Wyandotte County this week, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Traffic on all these projects will be diverted using mobile lane closures, signs and traffic cones.

For pavement grinding and road sealing, from Monday, May 11, to Saturday, May 16, closures include:

• The two right lanes on southbound I-635 from 48th Street to K-32, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• The right two lanes on northbound I-635 from K-32 to 48th Street, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
• The on and off ramps on northbound I-635 from eastbound and westbound State Avenue,
• The on and off ramps from northbound I-635 to K-32,
• The ramp from I-70 westbound to northbound I-635,
• The ramp from westbound State Avenue to southbound I-635,
• The ramps from eastbound and westbound I-70 to southbound I-635,
• The ramp from southbound I-635 to westbound I-70,
• The on and off ramps from southbound I-635 to K-32,
• The collective distributor lane and on-off ramps at westbound I-70 and 38th Street – Kaw Drive and westbound I-70 and northbound and southbound I-635,
• The on and off ramps at eastbound and 38th Street.

These will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Ramps will be open from 3:30 pm to 6 p.m.

For grading work, the closures include:
• The ramps from northbound and southbound Turner Diagonal to eastbound I-70.

These ramps will be closed on May 11 and May 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For asphalt milling the closure includes:

• Left lane at southbound Turner Diagonal Freeway over I-70.

The lane will be closed on May 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
