Homicide reported on Metropolitan

A homicide was reported at 11:19 p.m. May 18 in the 1100 block of Metropolitan Avenue, according to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting, according to the report, and located a victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim was a male in his late teens, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, the report stated.

The incident is under investigation by the Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information may call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Burglary reported on South 72nd

A burglary was reported at 10:50 p.m. May 18 in the 2600 block of South 72nd Circle, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

According to the report, a suspect broke in while the victim was home. The suspect then fled, the report stated.

Shots fired at homes

Gunfire struck homes around 8:31 p.m. May 18, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers responded to shots fired in the area, and found that several homes and property had been struck by gunfire, according to the report. There were no reported injuries.
