Funeral arrangements set for crossing guard

Funeral arrangements have been set for a crossing guard who died after an accident on Tuesday morning near 54th and Leavenworth Road.

The visitation for Bob S. Nill, 88, will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Christ the King Catholic Church.

The burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

According to the obituary, the family suggests memorials to Christ the King School.

Bonner Springs Library plans ‘Jazz on the Lake’ fundraiser Feb. 22

The Bonner Springs City Library will hold its 10th Jazz on the Lake fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Lake of the Forest Clubhouse, Bonner Springs.

The event features a dinner, dancing to the Kick Band, a silent auction and a live auction.

This year’s theme is “Over the Moon.” In 2015 and 2017, the event raised funds for children’s programming and for the library’s collection, and a special preservation project.

With the funds that were raised, the event has brought a variety of organizations, performers and presenters to the library for educational and cultural programs for children and youth.

This year’s fundraiser also will support children’s programming and the collection, along with new technology for the children’s area.

Armed robbery reported

An armed robbery was reported about 6:55 a.m. Feb. 19 in the 900 block of Everett Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A suspect got out of a vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim, and then took property from the victim, according to the report. The suspect fled in the vehicle.

Victim robbed of vehicle at gunpoint

An aggravated robbery was reported at 12:40 p.m. in the 100 block of James Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A suspect got into a victim’s vehicle, according to the report. The victim grabbed the suspect and tried to pull the suspect out of the vehicle. The victim saw a gun in the suspect’s hand and then let go of the suspect, the report stated. The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle, according to the report.

Pursuit reported in 7800 block of Washington

A vehicle pursuit took place around 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19 in the 7800 block of Washington Boulevard, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation, and the vehicle fled, according to the report. A pursuit took place, and then was terminated, the report stated. The suspect was not apprehended.
