Schools, libraries closed today

School districts in Wyandotte County have announced closures today because of the weather. Snow fell overnight in Wyandotte County and may continue through the day.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 24, because of the weather.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Libraries also will be closed on Friday, Jan. 24, because of the weather.

The Turner Public Schools also have canceled school for today because of inclement weather.

The Piper Public Schools also have canceled school today because of inclement weather.

The Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Public Schools also have canceled school today because of inclement weather.

From 2 to 4 inches of snow expected overnight

Snow was falling on Thursday night in Wyandotte County, and as much as 2 to 4 inches of snow was possible overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Wyandotte County is under a winter weather advisory until noon Friday, the weather service said.

On Friday, snow and freezing rain are likely before 3 p.m., then a slight chance of snow between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., according to the weather service.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions, and the conditions could impact the Friday morning commute, according to the weather service.

The next chance for winter precipitation comes in the middle of next week, the weather service said.
