Today’s high: Low 80s

Another nice day, with temperatures reaching the low 80s, is in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

The weather will slowly return to normal July temperatures by this weekend, according to the weather service.

A high pressure ridge has moved directly over the area, and will remain in place through tonight, allowing for one more cool day today with highs in the lower 80s, the weather service said. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 on the weekend.

A cold front may move into the area by Sunday night, bringing the next chance for thunderstorms, according to the weather service.

Thunderstorms may continue through Monday and Monday night as the cold front continues to move through the area, the weather service said. On Tuesday, the area will return to dry conditions and temperatures in the mid 80s.

The rivers in Wyandotte County are currently below flood stage and declining. The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes Wyandotte County in its area, is below flood stage and is in action stage. The Kansas River at 23rd Street is below flood stage, and has dropped below action stage in the last day.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 82 and a calm wind, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear with a low of 64, and a light south southeast wind, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 84, the weather service said. A light south southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 66 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.

Friday night, it will be sunny with a high near 87 and a south wind of 3 to 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 89, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 71, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 90, the weather service said.

Sunday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., with a low of 72, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 86, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 67, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 86, the weather service said.

104th birthday celebration

Friends and family celebrated Berniece Woolery’s 104th birthday today at a special luncheon and birthday party at Providence Place, a five-star CMS rated skilled and long-term nursing facility located on the Providence campus at 89th and Parallel Parkway. Berniece and her husband were past owners of Wyandotte Cafe in Kansas City, Kansas.
