Minor injury reported on I-35 as vehicle runs into dump truck

An accident was reported at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, on the southbound I-35 ramp to Mission Road in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Kenworth dump truck were southbound on I-35 when the Grand Cherokee changed lanes and struck the dump truck, according to the trooper’s report.

The Grand Cherokee then went off the roadway to the right and struck the barrier wall, the report stated.

The driver of the Grand Cherokee, a 54-year-old Overland Park, Kansas, man, had a suspected minor injury and was taken to a Kansas City, Kansas hospital, according to the report.

The driver of the dump truck, a 52-year-old Blue Springs, Missouri, man, was not injured, the trooper’s report stated.

Democratic breakfast to be Saturday

Guest speakers for the Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast on June 15 will be State Rep. Kathy Wolfe Moore, D-36th Dist., and State Rep. Tom Burroughs, D-33rd Dist. Burroughs also is the Unified Government 2nd District at large commissioner.

The breakfast will be at Las Islas Marias, 7516 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The breakfast buffet will open at 8:15 a.m., and the program will start at 9 a.m.

The breakfast is open to all Democrats. The cost of the buffet will be $10, with students and those on limited incomes, $6. Those who attend the program do not have to purchase a breakfast. Anyone planning on purchasing breakfast is asked to make reservations to [email protected] by Friday, June 14, although reservations are not required.
