Flood advisory issued

A flood advisory has been issued for Wyandotte County and surrounding counties, according to the National Weather Service.

The urban and small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas has been issued until 9:30 a.m.

Heavy rain fell in the area this morning, and is expected to cause urban and small stream flooding, according to the weather service.

Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the area. produced one to 1.5 inches of rain in less than an hour.

Wyandotte County under severe thunderstorm warning

A severe thunderstorm with high winds was moving through Wyandotte County about 7 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service issued the warning until 7:15 a.m. A separate thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday.

This storm can include high winds, hail and lightning. The weather service advised residents to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
