Concacaf Gold Cup match at Children’s Mercy Park today

Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas, is the host of the final two matches of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup group stage today.

The U.S. Men’s National Team will play for the top spot in Group D today.

The doubleheader features Trinidad and Tobago (0-2-0, 0 points) against Guyana (0-2-0, 0 points) at 5:30 p.m., followed by the U.S. (2-0-0, 6 points) battling Panama (2-0-0, 6 points) at 8 p.m.

The U.S. Men’s Team has already booked passage to the Gold Cup quarterfinals and can clinch first place in Group D with a win or a draw.

Tickets for the doubleheader are available at SeatGeek.com and both matches will be televised on FS1, Univision Deportes and Unimas.

Weather to get hotter today

Temperatures could reach a high near 90 today, with a heat index as high as 97, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures will continue through the rest of the week, the weather service said. A ridge will build into the region, and each day the highs likely will rise a degree or two, with the warmest day on Saturday.

Because this will be the first longer period of hot weather, the potential is there for more heat-related illnesses than are typical in late June, according to the weather service.

River flooding will continue in Wyandotte County on the Missouri River, according to the weather service. The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes Wyandotte County in its forecast area, was at moderate flood stage and declining. The Kansas River at 23rd Street, where the gauge is at Kansas Avenue and the state line, was in minor flood stage and declining.

Today’s forecast also includes a 20 percent chance of showers between 11 a.m. and noon, according to the weather service, with a west southwest wind of 6 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 71, according to the weather service, and a south wind of 8 to 10 mph.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 90, the weather service said. The heat index will be as high as 96. A south wind of 8 to 16 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Thursday night, it will be mostly clear with a ow of 72 and a south wind of 7 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 93 and a south wind of 7 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 73, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 94, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 71, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny with a high near 95, the weather service said.

UG budget presentation to be Thursday

The Unified Government administrator’s budget presentation is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the Commission Chambers, lobby level, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

In the budget presentation, the administrator will recommend what items should be funded in the UG budget. The budget also contains a total amount of recommended expenditures and revenues for next year, and a recommended mill levy for property taxes. The UG Commission will discuss the budget in several upcoming workshops and then vote on it.

The UG Commission also will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, in the Commission Chambers, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St. Several planning and zoning items are on the agenda.

Also on the 7 p.m. agenda are the Woodlands’ special use permit to park motor vehicles on its parking lot. The commission also is set to adopt the federal legislative program, which is the UG’s position on federal issues.

In addition there is an ordinance change for the Human Relations and Disabilities Commission, adding “all sexual orientations and genders” to the ordinance, and defining a quorum.

Also on the agenda are the commission and mayor’s recommendations for the UG – Hollywood Casino and SVV grants.
