Horvat honored at Emporia State

Raymond Horvat of Kansas City, Kansas, received academic honors at a banquet at the Teachers College at Emporia State University.

Twenty-two students received outstanding student awards and 41 students were honored for achievement of a 3.8 grade point average or higher at the close of the spring semester. Undergraduate and graduate students were honored for excellence in their departments.

Nine students received outstanding undergraduate student awards and 13 students received outstanding graduate student awards.

Man injured in crash on I-70

A man was injured in a crash at 7:23 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, on eastbound I-70 at the ramp to southbound 18th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

When a Toyota Camry tried to change lanes, there was a vehicle in his blind spot, he braked to avoid a vehicle in front of him and lost control, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report stated.

The driver, a 21-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, was injured and was taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A 28-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman passenger in the Camry was not injured, according to the trooper’s report. She was wearing a seat belt.
