KCK student graduates from McPherson College
Whitney Murray, Kansas City, Kansas, has graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas.
Murray received a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish.
McPherson College is a four-year private liberal arts college in central Kansas.
Offices closed for Fourth of July holiday
The Fourth of July will be a holiday for Unified Government and Board of Public Utilities employees.
The UG and BPU offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, to observe Independence Day.
Although BPU’s business offices are closed on holidays, emergency service is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For power emergencies, customers should call 913-573-9522. The water emergency number is 913-573-9622.
Residential trash collection
Residential trash will not be picked up on Wednesday, July 4. Trash will be picked up on Thursday for those whose trash is usually picked up on Wednesday; regular Thursday customers’ trash will be picked up on Friday; and Friday customers’ trash will be picked up on Saturday.
Because of high temperatures, trash will be picked up earlier than usual this week through July 7. Residents should set trash out before 6 a.m. this week. For more information, call Waste Management at 913-631-3300.
Bus schedule
RideKC buses are on a Sunday-holiday schedule for July 4. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority’s Regional Call Center, administrative offices and customer service lobby will be closed for Independence Day.
Regular weekday bus service will resume Thursday, July 5.

Postal holiday
July 4 also is a holiday for the U.S. Postal Service, banks, and many other offices. The Kansas City, Kansas, Public Libraries also will be closed.
