KCK woman injured in crash on I-70

A Kansas City, Kan., driver was injured and taken to the hospital after a crash on I-70 westbound near the Turner Diagonal at 3:53 p.m. Saturday, July 2.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report, the 27-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman was westbound on I-70 in a Ford F-150 pickup truck when another vehicle cut her off.

She made an evasive maneuver, lost control, slid into a ditch and hit a bridge pillar, according to the trooper’s report.

Victim of fatal motorcycle accident identified

The victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on Friday on I-635 north near Metropolitan Avenue has been identified.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the victim of the fatal accident was Stephen L. Bean, 22, Kansas City, Kan.

He was northbound on I-635 at a high rate of speed on a Honda motorcycle, and he made a lane change to avoid slower traffic when his motorcycle struck the rear of a Ford pickup truck, the trooper’s report stated.

After impact, the motorcycle went to the inside shoulder and hit the barrier wall, ejecting the motorcyclist, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the pickup truck was a Lawson, Mo., man, according to the trooper’s report.

Bean was wearing a helmet with a face shield, according to the trooper’s report.
