Police investigating homicide at 47th and Richmond
Two men in their 20s were in separate vehicles when they exchanged gunfire, critically wounding one, on Tuesday night near 47th and Richmond.
According to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, officers responded to a shots fired call at 10:45 p.m. July 5 in the 4700 block of Richmond.
When they arrived, officers found the man who was shot, according to the spokesman. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Officers found the other man, who is a person of interest, and had left the scene. According to the spokesman, officers made contact with him near 50th and State Avenue. Officers observed that he had been shot as well and he was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the spokesman said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Major Case Unit, which is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
Police investigate woman’s death at KCK hotel
Kansas City, Kan., police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old woman at a hotel in the 500 block of Southwest Boulevard.
According to a spokesman, police responded about 5:40 p.m. July 5 to the location. They found a deceased female in one of the hotel rooms.
The victim had visible marks but it was unknown if a weapon was involved, the police spokesman said.
The death is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Major Case Unit, which is asking anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
