KCK man involved in crash of semi and pickup truck

A Kansas City, Kan., man was driving a semi that was involved in a crash at 10:25 a.m. Jan. 25 in Jasper County, Mo.

The 63-year-old Kansas City, Kan., driver was on Missouri Highway 66, about 5 miles west of Joplin, Mo., when a Ford F-150 truck in front of him was slowing to make a right turn, the Missouri Highway Patrol report stated.

The Freightliner semi hit the back of the Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to the trooper’s report.

A 22-year-old Joplin, Mo., woman driving the pickup truck was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the report. The Ford F-150 was totaled, the report stated.

The driver of the semi was not injured, although the semi sustained moderate damage, according to the report.

Special joint meeting planned Jan. 27

A special meeting of the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education and the Kansas City Kansas Community College Board of Trustees has been called for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The meeting will be in the third floor board room of the Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools Central Office, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kan.

There will be a joint in-service and discussion between the Board of Education and Board of Trustees, including an update on current initiatives and programs, and plans to establish common targets to support the Diploma Plus Initiative.

Job fair planned today

A part-time job fair for people who want to work at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan., is planned from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 26.

The job fair will be in the Ameritas Shield Club section of the soccer stadium, located at 1 Sporting Way, (located next to The Legends Outlets on State Avenue).

The part-time positions for the 2016 Sporting KC season will be in these departments: guest services, parking operations, building services, Sporting style and Legends hospitality. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
