Police seek public’s assistance in locating suspect vehicle

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department is asking the public to help locate a light blue metallic Ford Crown Victoria that is suspected of being involved in a fatal accident at 3rd and Oakland Avenue on Sept. 1.

The vehicle was not at the accident site when police arrived.

A police spokesman said the vehicle is a 2000 to 2006 light blue, clear coat, metallic Ford Crown Victoria, with front-end driver-side damage.

The vehicle also is missing the driver’s side, side-view mirror. Mirrors on the car are black. The front driver’s side headlight will be missing or broken, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit-Critical Collision Response Team. The Police Department is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Today there is a chance of thunderstorms, mainly before noon, as temperatures reach a high of 88, according to the National Weather Service.

The wind will be from the south at 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph today, the weather service said.

The weather service said that temperatures will run five to 10 degrees above normal through the weekend.

The next storm chances will run early next week, according to the weather service.

Saturday’s and Sunday’s forecast will be mostly sunny with a high of 89, according to the weather service.

On Monday, Labor Day, the high will be 85 with a 50 percent chance of rain, the weather service said.
