One injured in accident on I-35

One person was injured in a three-vehicle accident at 5:31 p.m. Aug. 10 on I-35 southbound near Lamar, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The three vehicles were traveling southbound on I-35, according to the trooper’s report. Traffic slowed, and a Ford F150 struck the rear of an Isuzu, pushing it into another Ford vehicle, the report stated.

The driver of the Isuzu, a 30-year-old Kansas City, Mo., woman, was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Ford F150, a 25-year-old man from Concordia, Kan., was not injured, the report stated.

The driver of the other Ford, a 46-year-old man from Olathe, Kan., also was not injured, the report stated.

Clear, calm weather ahead this week

Cooler and calmer weather is anticipated this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will climb back into the 90s for the end of the week, into the weekend, but dangerous heat conditions aren’t anticipated at this time, the weather service said.

Today’s forecast is sunny with a high near 84, according to the weather service.

Tonight, look for mostly clear skies with a low around 66.

Wednesday, the high will be near 85, with sunny skies, the weather service said. Wednesday night, the low will be 66.

Thursday’s weather will be sunny with a high near 87, according to the weather service. On Thursday night, the low will be around 68.

The weekend forecast does not have rain and storms.

Friday’s high will be 89 with sunny skies, the weather service said. Saturday’s forecast is the same as Friday’s.

Sunday, there will be sunny skies and a high of 90, according to the weather service.

KCKCC budget hearing to be Tuesday morning

A budget hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave.

The trustees are scheduled to vote on the budget following the budget hearing.

The meeting will be in the upper level Jewell building on the KCKCC campus.

The regular KCKCC Board of Trustees meeting will follow the budget hearing.

The proposed maximum tax rate is 27.109 mills; last year’s rate was 26.108 and the previous year, 26.121 mills. Proposed budgeted expenditures total $69.6 million.
