Today is Food Truck Friday in downtown Kansas City, Kan.
Deco Street Eats and Twisted Asian KC will be in downtown Kansas City, Kan., from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, across from the Hilton Garden Inn at 520 Minnesota Ave., according to the Downtown Shareholders.
The public is invited to attend and purchase food.
Today is the start of school for sixth and ninth graders in the Piper Public Schools and all new students to the district.
It will be a half-day today.
Monday is the first day of school for all students in the Piper district, and it will be a full day.
Piper is planning a Back to School Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the high school.
Warm and dry weather will prevail through the upcoming weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Despite temperatures warming into the high 80s or lower 90s, afternoon heat indices will remain below dangerous levels, the weather service said.
There is a chance that showers and storms will return next week, in mid-week, according to the weather service. Widespread severe weather is not expected at this time.
