Wednesday’s forecast is sunny, with a high near 92. The heat index on Wednesday could reach as high as 97, the weather service said.

Thursday brings a partly sunny day with a high near 87. Winds will be from the south at 8 to 14 mph, gusting to 20 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday night, there will be a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said.

Friday, expect a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 83, according to the weather service.

Drowning victim identified

The body of a man who was swept away in the currents of the river was found on June 5 in Lafayette County, Mo., according to the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.

John R. Shead Jr., 30 was driving a vehicle that was swept away near Fitzgerald and Greystone on May 29, the police spokesman said.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police and Fire departments searched the area on May 29, but the man’s body was not discovered until June 5, according to the spokesman.
