Strawberry Hill Museum open for holidays
The Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kan., has opened for the holidays and will remain open on weekends through Sunday, Jan. 26. The museum, decorated in Victorian style, is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with special tours available by appointment. The cost of a tour is $7 for adults and $3 for children 6-12. St. Nicholas will visit the museum from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Nighttime tours will be available at 6 p.m. Fridays, Dec. 5 and Dec. 19, and reservations are required. The cost is $15 for the nighttime tours, which includes refreshments and dessert. Call 913-371-3264 for more information or to make reservations. Holiday parties also may be booked. A candy-making class was scheduled there today; preregistration was necessary.

Project Feederwatch continues at library

Project Feederwatch continues all day at the Schlagle Environmental Library at Wyandotte County Lake Park, 91st and Leavenworth Road. This bird count has been going on during Saturdays in November at the library. The research assists scientists who are trying to understand bird population changes. The library will provide binoculars and feed guides to help out. For more information, call 913-299-2384.

Enroll Wyandotte effort ongoing at libraries
The Enroll Wyandotte effort is going on today from 1 to 5 p.m. at the South Library, 3104 Strong, and from 1 to 4 p.m. at the West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd. Staff from Community Health Council of Wyandotte County will help with open enrollment for health insurance.

Sporting Style pop-up store opens
A pop-up Sporting Style store has opened in the Boulevard Members Club at the Sporting Park stadium in Kansas City, Kan. The store opened Friday and will be open through Dec. 24. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Parking is in Lot D at the Sporting Park area.

Turner library closed today

The Turner Library and Turner Recreation Center will be closed Saturday for the holidays.

Accident reported on I-435

An injury-accident was reported at 5:46 p.m. Nov. 27 on I-435 southbound about one-tenth of a mile south of Kansas Avenue, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

According to the trooper’s report, two vehicles were traveling southbound on I-435 when a Dodge Dart slowed and a Toyota Camry hit the rear of the Dart.

A passenger in a Toyota Camry, a 53-year-old woman from Shawnee, Kan., had a possible injury and was taken to the hospital. The driver, a 24-year-old woman from Shawnee, was not injured, according to the report.

The driver of the Dart, a 28-year-old man from Lenexa, Kan., was not injured, according to the report. Also not injured was a 32-year-old woman from Lenexa who was a passenger in the Dart.

The weekend weather looks good, with mild temperatures starting to become colder on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight’s low will be 43, with partly cloudy skies. Look for south southwest winds of 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

For Saturday, the high will be 64 and there will be mostly sunny skies. A south southwest wind will be from 8 to 11 mph.

Saturday night, the low will be 45 and there will be mostly clear skies.

Sunday, temperatures will head downward as an arctic front pushes into the area from the north, and the high will be 49. The temperature will fall to around 32 by 5 p.m. The wind will be breezy from the south southwest at 9 to 14 mph, becoming north 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 28 mph.

On Sunday night, look for a low of 18 with partly cloudy skies. The north wind will be around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Monday, skies will be mostly sunny with a high near 29.

Monday night, expect mostly clear skies with a low of 18.

Tuesday’s high will be near 40, with mostly sunny skies. Tuesday night, the low will be 28.
