U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., won re-election on Wednesday afternoon as final election results were posted by the Kansas secretary of state’s office.
Rep. Yoder won 51 percent of the vote, to Democrat Jay Sidie’s 41 percent, in the contest, according to the final unofficial election results.
The vote total was 171,647 for Rep. Yoder, 135,778 for Sidie, and 26,897 for Libertarian Steven Hohe, according to the results. All 630 precincts were reporting.
The 3rd District includes Johnson and Wyandotte counties, and part of Miami County.
All results are unofficial until they are certified next week.
Technical problems in Johnson County held up the election results, according to a statement made by the election office there. According to the statement, the tabulation system was overwhelmed while paper ballots were being scanned.
